When I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2007, majoring in Business Marketing, social media wasn’t in the picture yet. But two years later, I started a blog about entertaining (food, shopping, music, art), and discovered a passion for connecting with people online and offline. I brought my interest in social media to my position at Texas.gov, the State website of Texas, where I developed the first social media strategy and collaborated with state agencies on a Statewide social media program.
In 2010, my blog won an award, and I continued to connect with local business owners as I experienced the funky, fun, and ‘weird’ city of Austin, Texas. This grew into a business idea and in 2011, I started LocalizeAustin, a small and local business consultancy to help small businesses with modest budgets grow, promote, and get noticed through marketing, social media, and PR. We helped over 20 small and locally-based businesses and organizations including Austin Restaurant Week, The Autism Trust USA, and RISE Global (Relationship & Information Series for Entrepreneurs) over the course of 15 months.
I moved to Chicago in September 2012 and was thrilled to learn about the team at Digital Third Coast and its commitment to helping small to medium businesses become more profitable through highly skilled SEO, PPC, and Link Building teams. I am excited to bring my passion for local business, content marketing and social media to the team and partners at Digital Third Coast. I’m now living and loving local in The Windy City.
