While doing a few personal searches at work today I came across a new feature in Google search engine results pages – rating from Google Products as an extension of certain Google pay per click ads.

Google has been playing with a lot of different ad extensions for a while – from addresses for local search to product images. With this new ratings extension, you can click on the “rated” hyperlink and see rating for the company showing the ad. Since these rating & review extensions come only from Google Products at this time, it is likely to only benefit those with many reviews & ratings at this time. It would be interesting to see future metrics on the influence of these types of ad extensions, but for now we’ll have to wait & see what develops.
