Analytics App – Google Analytics for iPhone and iPod Touch

By Taylor Cimala on 2-03-09 in Analytics

Google Analytics is without question one of the best free tools available for any website owner. I’m in there every day taking a look at search visitors, goal conversions, funnels, and everything else that can give an insight on the overall trends of traffic and search visibility. There are many times that I’ve tried using my iPhone to browse reports while in the car or on the go, but Google Analytics (GA) uses too much AJAX and Flash for things to come out in the desired manner, let alone be able to look at any date range other than the default past 30 days.

Now enters a new application called Analytics App that allows you to view all of your GA reports quickly and easily from your phone and at a mere $5.99 this is going to only take your yearly analytics budget from $0 to $5.99 for most small businesses.

This new app isn’t flashy – it just gives you a nice overview on where things stand using the same functionality and graphs that you see online. It’s basically the same data you would see if you went through the main dashboard areas inside GA, with all of the fancy code removed. So now when you are out and about and want to see how many visitors you got last month for “blue widgets”, it’s quick and easy to do with a lot less effort!

With this initial version 1.0, you can view 29 different reports, customize the date range, and easily access all of your accounts. There are a few features missing that would be very helpful and hopefully will be added as time allows. The first would be that I would like to have the ability to view keywords by search engine as opposed to just overall search engine traffic or all keywords through all search engines. Online, I’m used to going into Traffic Sources > Search Engines and then drilling down from there. Another thought would be to add a date comparison so you can compare two date ranges against each other. Either way, it’s definitely a nice change of pace from all the useless (but fun) applications that are readily available and widely promoted.

How does this compare with the iFart App? I’ll tell you how, it doesn’t. :-)

I have to agree with George – no comparison. None whatsoever.
